Introducing custom prompts: Make your tasks uniquely yours in Hoop

You can now tell Hoop exactly how you want your tasks written. Add time estimates, levels of urgency, emoji, and more.

Make your tasks feel like your tasks. Hoop automatically captures your tasks across email, Slack and meetings.

Today, we’re launching a powerful new feature that allows you to customize how your tasks appear in Hoop: Custom prompts for task titles.

You can now write your own AI prompt to control how Hoop generates task titles. Tasks can show up in your desired voice, structure, and workflow. Think of this feature as a new level of personalization for how your tasks appear in Hoop. With a few words, you can:

🧠 Follow your favorite productivity frameworks- Want every task to follow GTD or another favorite framework? Or be tagged by priority level (P1, P2, P3)? Just write a prompt like: “Summarize the task according to GTD and assign it a priority label (P1–P3).”

🌍 Use the language you think in - Whether you’re bilingual or just want your tasks in Spanish, French, or Japanese, tell Hoop: “Translate task titles into Spanish.”

✨ Add personality (and emoji) - Want a fun vibe? Try: “Make each task sound friendly and include one relevant emoji.”

🔍 Get hyper-specific - If you're in a role or team that uses internal naming conventions or acronyms, you can bake that right into your prompt.

How to get started

Simply go into your settings on the bottom left of Hoop, click on "Customizations," and write a prompt in plain English.

For example, to make your tasks appear following the Eisenhower Matrix (a popular productivity framework), tell Hoop:

"You are helping categorize tasks using the Eisenhower Matrix. For each task, assign it to one of the four quadrants:

1\. **[Do Now] 🔥** — Urgent & Important
2\. **[Plan] 📅** — Not Urgent but Important
3\. **[Delegate] 🤝** — Urgent but Not Important
4\. **[Eliminate] 🧹** — Not Urgent and Not Important

Prefix each task title with the appropriate label and emoji, like so:

[Plan] 📅 Draft strategy doc for Q2 OKRs

Keep the task title brief and action-oriented. Use judgment to place the task in the right quadrant based on its urgency and importance."

Tasks will now come into Hoop following this exact format. Magic!

This feature is not only insanely useful. It's also quite fun. I tried telling Hoop to write my tasks like a pirate (arrrr!) before settling on a shorter task title including an emoji and level of urgency for tasks.

Here's Brian walking you through how to set up a custom prompt for your task titles in Hoop. We've also built out a handy Prompt Library where you can get inspired by all the ways to make your task titles appear. If you discover something new, please let us know so we can include it!
